Anthony Travel Rewarded for Work/Life Balance

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Samaritan Counseling Center announced today Anthony Travel has received the Samaritan Award in recognition for the firm’s active pursuit of a positive balance between work and home life for employees.

A leader in university and sports travel management, Anthony Travel was founded in 1989.  Their mission, “Treat others as you would like to be treated,” provides a strong foundation on which the company builds its family-friendly reputation.

“In the 15 years I have been with Anthony Travel, Anthony Travel has always been willing and encouraging of me with regard to my flexible work schedule,” said Tim Lindgren, Sports Travel Consultant.  “Working and living in different time zones has not been an obstacle for me and my family.”

New staff members are also impressed by Anthony Travel’s level of commitment to their employees.  “From the moment I stepped foot into the office four and a half months ago, I felt as if I’d been here for years,” said Sarah Dickey, Travel Consultant.  “I loved the one-on-one time spent with employees, designed to give new associates a chance to really get to know everyone personally.”

“Anthony Travel is so supportive of their employees and their families.  My mother has a lot of health issues and everyone is always asking me how she is doing,” said Dickey.  “They offer good benefits and take care of their employees, and they let them know they are appreciated.  It is a great company to work for, and I am very happy to be here.”

Many of the employees at Anthony Travel consider their co-workers friends. “Our team members support one another during the work day and even in our free time,” said Lindgren.  “I recall asking for donations for an organization I had been involved with for a few years, and the outpouring of contributions was overwhelming.”

Anthony Travel employees also elect their peers to the Positive Attitudes Positive Atmosphere (PAPA) group.  Charged with keeping the morale high, the group implements and designs activities such as massages at work, football tailgates, monthly breakfasts and other staff outings.  Other Anthony Travel employee benefits include discounted travel and gym memberships.

“We work hard to promote an environment where employees can enrich the lives of everyone we touch,” said Vice President of Travel Services, Mary Kowalski.  “Establishing a family-friendly atmosphere in the office allows us to provide our employees and customers with the outstanding level of service they deserve.”

Awarded annually by the Samaritan Counseling Center, The Samaritan Award is selected by a committee of community leaders based upon the research and recommendation of students at Saint Mary’s College.  Nominees include local businesses that demonstrate excellence in providing a healthy work-family environment.  Nominees must provide information for the selection process which is researched and analyzed by the students.
